A New Chapter: Excessive Human Collective Becomes Imogen Reeve & Co.

Hello friends,

We have some exciting news to share — after many years of creating work as Excessive Human Collective, the company has a new name: Imogen Reeve & Co. This is both a big change and, in many ways, a natural step. The new name reflects the reality of how the company has always worked: with the artistic vision of Imogen Reeve at its core, and a brilliant community of collaborators - the “& Co.” - shaping every step along the way.

Why the change?

For a long time, our work has been body-forward, visionary, and rooted in Imogen’s choreographic voice. But the old name didn’t always make that clear. In a field where female choreographers are too often unnamed or hidden behind company structures, this feels like an important (and overdue!) moment to honour authorship and voice openly. At the same time, the “& Co.” reminds us that none of this work is made alone - it’s a constellation of dancers, technologists, designers, and thinkers coming together.

Why now?

The timing felt right. Our founding members have moved into board roles, we’re stepping into exciting new partnerships and commissions, and the work itself is becoming more expansive — diving deeper into technology, AI, and post-human performance. Anchoring the company clearly to an artistic vision helps set the stage for this next chapter.

What’s ahead?

We’re developing Mother Computer, a new work premiering in 2026, which asks: if folktales have always helped us explain the world, what happens when large language models start inventing their own origin myths? Research and work-in-progress showings are planned across the coming year.

We’re also preparing to tour We Are The World, sharing an excerpt on the 22nd October as part of Transform festival and then kicking off our tour in Sheffield on the 21st November,  and expanding our workshops around AI, embodiment, and choreographic practice.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Whether you’ve seen a show, joined a workshop, or simply followed our work from afar, your support means the world. We can’t wait to share this new chapter with you.

With love,

Imogen Reeve & Co.
