Audition for Imogen Reeve & Co.
Hello friends,
We have some exciting news! Imogen Reeve & Co. are seeking one highly technical, fast-learning, and creatively generous Leeds-based dancer to join the creation of Mother Computer, a new dance theatre work exploring how AI invents and reinvents folklore, myth, and cultural memory through a feminist lens.
We are looking for a female-identifying performer. At Imogen Reeve & Co., we understand that gender is expansive and surpasses binaries, so trans, queer, and gender-expansive women are highly encouraged to apply.
The role includes complex choreography, creative contribution, research-led performance, and international travel, with all work paid at Equity rates.
About Mother Computer
Mother Computer asks: what happens when we invite large language models not for facts, but for stories—myths, fables, and folktales? By treating AI as a storyteller, cultural inheritor, and mythmaker, the project examines gender biases and moral logics embedded in machine-generated fictions, and how these collide with human embodiment in live performance.
Our research into feminist retellings of folklore explores how traditional narratives can be reimagined to challenge patriarchal, heteronormative structures, creating space for embodied agency, subversive interpretations, and diverse identities.
The R&D phase combines choreographic construction, improvisation, speculative research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. You will contribute movement, creative ideas, and embodied responses, shaping a new choreographic language alongside the company.
